Class descriptions

Beginning Yoga- This class is for those new to yoga or those whose practice has lapsed and want to refresh the foundations of yoga. We start slowly in freeing the body with fluid movement then focus on the healthy alignment for basic poses. We look to free the breath and learn the basics of breath-work and calming the mind toward a meditative state. No experience in yoga is needed, but a basic level of physical fitness is required—i.e., you are able to get up from a seated position on the floor, are reasonably comfortable on hands and knees. Classes are infused in yoga philosophy.  This class is recommended for anyone who has not studied yoga with me regardless of experience since this style is very particular with alignment. Even a few classes will get you on the right track.

Level I Classes build on Beginning yoga. We start with long warm ups. Each class establishes alignment principles that sustains building strength and efficient movement through a larger repertoire of all categories of poses. Yoga props are supplied and used to assist each individual’s needs. Classes are infused in yoga philosophy.

Level II This level is for folks who have at least 2 yrs experience with alignment based classes. We add vinyasa (a warming flow of poses), longer holds, bound poses and building skills for inversions and pranayama practices that deepen “inner body” awareness. Classes are infused in yoga philosophy. Folks are asked to practice on their own between classes.

Restorative Yoga is meant to slow us down and allow the body/mind to rest deeply. We use gentle yoga movements and restorative poses that are supported with props like blankets, bolsters and blocks to so you can passively rest in poses longer. This practice is especially nourishing during times when life feels too demanding, emotional stress and after illness.

Private sessions-Maybe you learn best one-on-one. Perhaps you want suggestions to address a particular physical condition or state of mind. Maybe your schedule doesn't allow for group classes. Private instruction is tailored for you as you are and specific to your needs. Add a friend, family member, or colleague at any time. We can meet onsite or at my home studio. For each session you will get a write up for your home practice.
